Your Move Contest - Episode 136 & 137

By sconway - Posted on 26 September 2011

Your task is to connect....

Uluru to Quarriors

De Vulgari Eloquentia to Crozzle

The two games at either end of the challenge do not count as 2 of the 5 games.

So, in this case, we start with De Vulgari [insert five games connected in some way] and we end with Crozzle.

Post your list of games (and your rationale) below. Try not to copycat someone else's list when possible. The lists can come at the challenge from a ton of different angles, so we are looking forward to seeing how creative you all can be.

We'll do a random drawing each episode and one lucky entrant will win a set of coveted Spiel dice. Have fun!

Uluru:  Granting the wishes of dreambirds by positioning them correctly is the key.

Onirim:  Utilizing keys, wander through the chamber of dreams while avoiding nightmares and seeking oneiric doors.

Knock Knock!:  There’s a knock at your castle door.  You want to allow nice guests, but others can send unwelcome visitors.  Will you take a risk and open the door?

HeroQuest:  When will the game master open another door, revealing more of the dungeon?  Will you be the first to push forward on your quest and enter in?

Flash Point:  Enter a burning house as an emergency rescue worker.  In order to make the most effective choices, you must constantly observe your surroundings.

Monkey Lab:   Observe the situation.  Monkeys are caged throughout the laboratory.  In place of keys, use the resources scattered about as you prepare their escape.

Quarriors:  Prepare for battle as a quarrior by conjuring up creatures, spells, and the mysterious powers of quiddity.

De Vulgari Eloquentia -- A game based on a work by Dante Alighieri.  Could there possibly be another game inspired by a different work of his?  Why, yes!  It's...

Dante's Inferno -- After you've created the modern Italian language, you can pop down into the underworld, descend to the lowest circles and defeat Lucifer.  Easy.  But what do you do once you're in charge?  Find out by playing...

Burn in Hell -- Collect sets of famous sinners and give them their just deserts.  But if you really want to do things right, you need to utilize technology.  Book your ticket for...

HellRail -- Now you're collecting those dead souls in style.  Of course, Hell can get a little boring (and hot) after a while.  Take a break, head upstairs back to Earth and ride the...

Spectral Rails -- Enjoy the desert Southwest in the comfort of your train.  But be on the lookout.  Given your locale, it's entirely possible that some of your passengers will be...

Lords of Vegas -- Now, since he's not dead, you won't find one of the current lords of Vegas, Steve Wynn, on your train.  But while you're waiting for him, you might look up a soul with a similar name:  Arthur Wynne.  Who's he?  Why, only the inventor of the first crossword (published on Dec. 21, 1913) and, thereby, the progenitor of word games like...

Crozzle.  Whew!

Yay!  I won!  I won!  Now I can reveal my true name.  It's JB Lawton III, from Dublin, Ohio.
