First Spiel des Jahres winner to make it to the iPhone...

By joeyhemlock - Posted on 24 May 2009

Zooloretto (iTunes Link) has been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It's published by Chillingo Games and has a price of $4.99. I've played it once now and I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's not bad.

There are so many games that would make such good iPhone games...

I wonder if any designer has ever thought of developing a board game that used an iPhone as a component. It'd be a great way to have hidden information. Of course, you're not going to find TOO many times where everyone has an iPhone or iPod touch. :)

I downloaded this today - it's hung on me a couple of times and eaten away at my battery power.

However, I've played two games since rebooting and all seems to be well now. Nice little implementation.

I don't know that this game is particularly suited to the small-screen format, but I think they did pretty well, all things considered.

I highly recommend this. I've been playing a lot of it. There are a couple of bugs and limitations, but I think every gamer with an iPhone or Touch should get this. For one, let's encourage them to make more boardgame conversions, but I think this is well worth $4.99 anyway.

I've had no crashes, but when the device gets low on memory, crashes tend to happen with many apps. Zooloretto's interface is very pleasing, relatively fast, and it seems to get all the rules right (excluding a couple bugs). And updates are sure to come. I'm hoping for multiplayer over wi-fi!
